HR & Payroll Specialist
Roper Kia is a locally owned dealership in Joplin, MO with a team of 75–90 employees. We’re hiring an HR & Payroll Specialist to be a front-office “hub” supporting payroll, HR coordination, and business operations support.

This role is ideal for someone who is accurate, dependable, and discreet—someone who likes owning details, meeting deadlines, and keeping office workflows moving. As a hub in the dealership, this role requires flexibility, collaboration and a positive attitude.
+ Essential Job Functions
Payroll (Primary)
Process payroll accurately and on schedule; audit timekeeping and inputs before each payroll run
Maintain payroll changes (deductions, garnishments, direct deposit updates, pay changes)
Partner with accounting/leadership on payroll reporting and documentation
Learn and ultimately “own” our payroll rhythm and workflow as we train and transition processes
HR Administration / Coordination
Coordinate onboarding/offboarding paperwork and maintain personnel files
Support benefits administration documentation and employee questions (escalate complex items)
Assist with HR recordkeeping and required documentation to support compliance processes
Serve as a point of contact for routine HR/payroll questions with strict confidentiality
Business Operations Support
Provide administrative support: document management, scanning, filing, data entry, reporting support
Assist the office leadership team with clerical tasks during non-peak payroll periods
Support special projects and general office organization
+ Required Qualifications
HR experience required (coordination/administration level is acceptable)
Payroll processing experience required (50+ employees strongly preferred)
Strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and deadline ownership
Comfortable with spreadsheets and learning HR/payroll software
Reliable, professional communication and a team-first attitude
+ Preferred Qualifications
Dealership or sales-driven/commission-related payroll environment experience
Experience with audits, garnishments/deductions, and timekeeping systems
Experience supporting onboarding and benefits workflows
+ Compensation and Benefits
This is a full-time position with office hours from 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday.
Pay will be based on Experience
Roper Kia is closed on 5 major holidays: New Years Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day and Christmas Day. Additional days may be added at the discretion of the Executive Team.
Employees are eligible for health insurance after 60 days and vacation days after 1 year. Additional life and health insurance is also available.

Hours of work | This position will work 8:00am-5:00pm in the office. Roper Kia is closed on Sunday. |
Overtime expectations | Any overtime should be approved ahead of time by department manager. |
Work environment | This role will work alongside the office staff in the office building and with other staff as needed. This role with have an office, allowing for discretion in this HR role. |
Dress requirements | All office employees will dress in business casual during the week. On Friday and Saturday, nice jeans may be worn. If choose, can purchase Roper Kia polos to wear. |
+ What Success Looks Like (First 90 days)
Month 1: You understand our payroll rhythm, policies, and employee file system
Month 2: You’re the go-to for routine HR/payroll questions and paperwork flow is consistent
Month 3: Payroll runs cleanly, records are organized, and you’ve identified 1–2 process improvements
